Links. When. Where. Why. How.

When? The time in now. If you have a new site that you are beginning to promote, an ideal first step is to get a few high quality links to build authority. The easy answer to where you should attract, and collect links is; from any relevant high quality resource in your sector. Focus on the current authorities. These are the people that have gained trust, and will pass more value to you as a new resource. Google considers this a "vote". Another way of taking a vouch for a topic related website.

As I stated above this has proven to be the most accurate method of sorting sites across the web. Links. If you research some of your competitors, you will find that they have a great deal of one way, related links. This is not something that was acquired overnight, but through a long, well thought out approach they have gained a dominant web position. Chances are, these sites have invested their time wisely.

How should you attract links?

  • Link Bait
When properly executed, link bait can be very rewarding. Many people attract links by giving away an e-book on their topic, creating a useful tool for free, by having interviews with major people in the industry, and by using any creative method, that is ethical. If you are using a method for link bait, a basic tip is to ensure that you have an HTML link code in an easy to find place.
  • Link Requests
Manual link requests can still provide great results when done correctly. This does not mean using an automated piece of software that sends mass emails to people in your industry. Every time you send out a request you should provide them with a reason that they will want to link to you. Telling them you are looking for links to rank higher, is not a method that works. Still, many people will type this in their emails, and wonder why they have no success. Allow CRERO to teach you how to successfully write a link request. Use your time wisely, and in the correct places, if you plan on succeeding.
  • Commenting
Blog commenting, and Forum commenting can be used to build exposure, and gain a few links. This is not something that should be used as your ONLY method of link building. CRERO has a manual available on how to find over 1,000 relevant sites that allow you to consistently gain a back link (when done properly).
  • Networking
Use your previous relationships. If you have been in your industry for years, chances are you know of some great sources to get a quality back link from. Once again, try and be beneficial to the reader. This means on your site, as well as the site you are gaining links from.
  • Purchasing
5 years ago this was alright. Google has buckled down, and in no way do we ever condone, recommend, or purchase links for any of our clients. This is a way to get results, however you run a high risk of getting banned from Google's index.
  • Press Releases & Article Submission
Press releases, and article submissions are a great way to build awareness in your market, as well as being able to place links throughout the article. Many people overlook the true value that a press release presents. You are reaching out to customers, as well as media outlets, with the potential of building more links than the few you may have placed inside your article.
  • Link Exchanges

If this was 1996 this would still be the way to build links. However, having a large number of reciprocal links can result in punishment. Try and always be beneficial to the viewer, and do not try and manipulate the search engines...too much.
